One-day conference on Forests and Forest Expanses

The Institute of Theology and Ecology of the OAC, in cooperation with the Bar Association of Chania and the Faculty of Environmental Engineers of the Technical University of Crete, jointly organize a scientific one-day conference on Forests and Forest Expanses on Saturday 13 June 2015.

The Institute of Theology and Ecology of the Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC), in cooperation with the Bar Association of Chania and the Faculty of Environment Engineers of the Technical University of Crete, jointly organize a scientific one-day conference on Forests and Forest Expanses, with emphasis on issues of protection, ownership and spatial integration of works of renewable energy sources, which will be held on Saturday 13 June 2015, at the OAC premises in Kolympari.

In the above conference, talks will be delivered by Dr. Konstantinos Zormpas, General Director of the OAC, Elias Kyriakopoulos, Head of the Department of Property Rights and Legal Cases of the Directorate of Immovable Property Management of the Ministry of Reconstruction of Production, Environment and Energy, Dr. Eupraxia-Aithra Maria, Associate Professor of Environmental Law at the Faculty of Environmental Engineering of the Technical University of Crete, Maria Melissari, Head of the Department of Property Rights of the Directorate for the Protection of Forests and Agroenvironment of the Ministry of Reconstruction of Production, Environment and Energy, Christina Peraki, Lawyer (Bar Association of Chania), Dr. Marios Haidarlis, Assistant Professor of Urban Planning, Spatial Planning Law and Environmental Law from the Department of Planning and Regional Development of the University of Thessaly.

The aim of the conference is to inform the general public and the local bodies/authorities of Crete about the issues of forests and forest expanses, based on the Constitution and the applicable legislation, but also the intentions and the planning adopted by the Ministry, where relevant interventions/questions will be posed in the light of the local needs, but also of respect to the natural environment.

Entrance will be free for all, and the conference will begin at 9:30am
