1st Conference on Kissamos - Announcement-Call for Applications

The Holy Metropolis of Kissamos and Selinon, the Region of Crete, the Municipality of Kissamos, the Municipality of Platanias, the Orthodox Academy of Crete and other cooperating spiritual and cultural institutions announce the joint organization of the first Conference on Kissamos, to be held on 14, 15 and 16 October 2016 at Kastelli and the Orthodox Academy of Crete (Kolymbari).

The topics of the Conference Announcements are: History, Archaeology, Folklore, Literature, Ethnography, Religion, Arts, Tradition, Culture, Intellectual Creation, Education, Law, Nature - Environment, Monuments. The timeline of the content of the Announcements should not extend beyond the year 1945. The duration of the Announcements at the Conference is set at 15 minutes and 5 minutes for discussion.

We invite and ask those interested to participate with their Announcement at the Conference to register no later than 31 March 2016, indicating their full details (name, title, telephone number, address, email address), at the e-mail addresses:

The entry form to be submitted should include the title of their subject, and Summary of the Announcement (one typed page with Times New Roman 12 font and 1.5 line spacing).

The summaries will be submitted to the Scientific Committee of the Conference, which will decide on the acceptance or not of Announcements at the Conference, informing those interested in reasonable period of time.

Conference attendees from outside of Chania will be provided hospitality.

The texts of the Announcements will be submitted by the participants at a later date, in a more extensive form (there will be instructions) so as to be included in the Conference Proceedings.
