Thursday, September 21, 2017 saw the inception of the proceedings of the Synod of the Anglican Church

Thursday, September 21, 2017 saw the inception of the proceedings of the Synod of the Anglican Church, a very important event for ecclesiastical communities and societal developments in Europe, organised at the Orthodox Academy of Crete (OAC). The leaders of the Synod are Bishop Robert Innes and Archdeacon Colin Williams. Representatives from various European countries and cities are participating.

At the commencement of proceedings, Dr Konstantinos Zorbas, General Director of the OAC, welcomed the participants pointing out characteristically that they were a "small part of the great mosaic of the Anglican Church", and continued by emphasising important aspects of new pastoral problems that create fear, social disintegration and conservatism. "How should we react to today's climate of terrorism in Europe?" the speaker himself asked. The answer lies in the untiring task of respecting the different, a common spirit of cooperation and solidarity so that we can "build the necessary bridges" for a peaceful world.
